Il Molino
Country Villa, Montalcino
Near
Siena |
This lovely, converted mill is situated not far from Montalcino and its famous ‘Brunello’ wine. The old stone walls have been restored and the interior given a new lease of life, without altering the original features, making this an unusual and fascinating property. Spread over two floors, the living area is on first floor and the pretty lawn and outside areas are reached by a large stone staircase. The ground floor has an independent entrance and consists of a large living room, bedroom and bathroom. The property is set in extensive gardens which with the private pool, stream and trees make for an almost fairytale setting. |

IN THE AREA :
Montalcino: situated on a hilltop at almost 600 m above sea level, Montalcino was already an important center in etruscan, roman and medieval times and was fiercely fought over by Florence and Siena.
This pretty, typical Tuscan town has many important buildings worth visiting: the Town Hall, the Diocisan Museum, the Civic Museum, home to robbian ceramics and frescos from the Siense school, the Archeological Museum, the Fortress and the monastery of St Antimo.
The surrounding countryside offers far reaching views of woods and vines. Famous worldwide for its wine, ‘Brunello di Montalcino’, and also for other local produce such as honey, extra virgin olive oil, cold meats and cheeses.
On the second Sunday in August, Montalcino celebrates the ‘Torneo di Apertura delle Cacce’ an historical archery competition between the local contradas and on the last Sunday in October, the ‘Festival of the Thrush’ . Nearest cities: San Quirico d’Orcia 15 km, Montepulciano 37 km, Siena 45 km, Cortona, 70 km. |
