Montecatini Val di Cecina - this delightful medieval village is built on a hill top allowing fabulous views over the valley towards Cecina and Volterra. The Belforti tower, the medieval buildings, the praetorian villa, the old gates and the village spring are all worth a visit.
Of interest in the area are – Querceto Castle (a medieval hamlet in the woods surrounding the church of San Giovanni), the Sassa (an ancient, well preserved settlement), the old copper mines (near Montecatini), the old guard post for the Camporciano mine and Miemo castle.
