At the foot of the hills surrounding Monsummano Terme (Province of Pistoia) and close to Montecatini is the wonderful, well equipped Grotta Giusti natural spa and wellness centre. The thermal water comes from the biggest thermal cave in the world, dating back 130 million years ago, and reaches the surface at 34,5°C.
The water is indicated for the treatment of illnesses of the upper and lower respiratory tract, nose, sinus and middle ear afflictions, chronic phlebitis and problems of micro-circulation (cellulite, etc.).

Casciana Terme, in the Province of Pisa, is set in the heart of the Pisan hills. The regenerative characteristics of the thermal water at Casciana Terme were discovered in 1100 by the Countess Matilde of Canossa. Legend has it that the countess discovered the therapeutic qualities of the water by observing a sick blackbird which dived repeatedly in and out of the thermal waters and in doing so was healed. The spring at Casciana is called Acqua Mathelda after the Countess, and the water has a constant natural temperature of 36°C. It is still used today for rehabilitation, cardiovascular and respiratory problems and to improve the digestive system.
The quality of the water has been scientifically proven to regenerate tissue, reactivate the body and rehabilitate post illness.
Its particular mixture of bicarbonates, sulphates and calcium is excellent for the treatment of circulatory malfunctions, rheumatism and arthroses, hyperuricaemia, high cholesterol, rhinitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis and all types of gynecological disorders.
