Discovering Tuscany: the Pinocchio Park and the Collodi Butterfly house
Opened in 1956, the Pinocchio Park is not an ordinary theme park but more a literary itinerary inspired by the story of Pinocchio. Follow a winding path through the trees on the discovery of works of art - from sculptures and buildings to mosaics - created by artists and representing episodes from the Adventures of Pinocchio. The park is atmospheric and entertaining bringing together art, nature and literature in a unique environment. Throughout the year the park is host to various puppet making workshops, puppet shows, theatre groups and exhibitions. Enjoy too a ride on an historic roundabouts dating back to the 1800s.
Almost next door to the Pinocchio Park is the Collodi Butterfly House. This amazing greenhouse built of stone and crystal houses a lush tropical garden and nearly a thousand different butterflies from all over the world. Your journey into the world of butterflies starts with an audio-visual introduction, then 10 informative panels, two insectaria and a formicarium before leading you into the gardens. Learn all about the stages of a butterfly’s development, nutrition, reproduction, environment and survival.
